Basic Decal Application Instructions

Thank you for purchasing your custom vinyl decals!   Upon receipt of your decal you will decide where you will apply your custom decals.  We will show you how to install them.  Decal application may not come easy to some, however, it is a skill that you can learn.  If you feel that you can not install the decals, contact us or consult a local body shop, car detailing service for assistance.

BEFORE YOU BEGIN:

~ All custom decals are designed for installation on the outside of the vehicle.

~ Required Items include an installation squeegee or credit card, masking tape, glass cleaner, lint free cloth, measuring tape or ruler.

~ Do not apply any vinyl graphics in direct sunlight.  Do not store unapplied graphics in direct sunlight, damage can occur.

~ All dirt, grease and wax must be removed from the car surface before the decal is applied. Failure, may result in the decal not sticking to the vehicle surface properly.

Step 1 ~ Place decals on a flat smooth surface. (Do not place in direct sunlight)

Step 2 ~ Go over the decal with a squeegee or credit card  to ensure the decal is properly adhered to the transfer tape before installing the decal.  Take the squeegee or credit card and press firmly over the entire surface of the face of the decal, (over the transfer tape) while it is still laying flat on the table.  Turn the decal over, you are now looking at the back of the backing paper, repeat with squeegee or credit card to swipe over the entire back of decal.

Step 3 ~ Prepare the Surface for application.

This is the most important step for decal application.  Make sure the installation area is cleaned and completely dry.  NO WAX, dirt, lint, dust, or other residue on the surface.  Remove all debris with cleaning agent that is safe for the application area.  Wipe area with glass cleaner or water to remove cleaning agent residue.  Wipe it dry. All waxes, oils, dirt etc. must be removed from the surface to insure that the decal will adhere properly.

Step 4 ~ Placement of Decal

Use masking tap to temporarily place the decal in the desired location.  Use a measuring tape or ruler to align the decal to your desired location.  Once the decal is in the position you want, step back and look at the decal, be sure it is in the position you desire, if not adjust until you are satisfied.  Apply a piece of masking tape along the top of the decal with approximately half of the tape on the decal and half on the surface. This will make a "hinged flap".

Step 5 ~ Removing backing paper

Raise the "hinged flap" and start to peel the backing paper off the the decal.  Besure to keep hold of the transfer tape and decal.  Do not allow the sticky area of the decal to touch the surface.  Peel backing paper off in sections if large decal or as you feel uncomfortable with the application.  Use a squeegee to slowly begin to apply the decal on to the cleaned and prepared surface.  Use swipes in a downward motion.  ONCE DECAL IS APPLIED TO THE SURFACE, IT IS DOWN.  Continue to remove the remainder of the backing paper and continue to apply the remainder of the decal.

Step 6 ~ Tape Removal

Once the entire decal is applied to the surface, go over the decal with the squeegee, and begin to peel the transfer tape off of the decal, starting from one side of the tape pulling towards the other.

Step 7 ~ Finalizing Application

If there are any air bubbles on your decal, you can remove them by using a small razor blade or needle. Take the razor blade or needle and poke a small hole in the vinyl at the source of the air bubble. Take your squeegee or credit card and push the air towards the small hole to remove the air bubble.  Most bubbles will disappear after exposure to the sunlight.
